James Sutton registered a mark on his own on 7th July 1780. He then registered a second mark with James Bult on 4th October 1782. They seem to have been working together up to 1793. They are recorded as bankbrupt in July 1784. James Bult is then named as the third partner with Samuel Godbehere and Edward Wigan on 15th March 1800. On 16th September 1818 Samuel Godbehere and James Bult registered a mark together, without Edward Wigan. It would therefore seem that all tongs by Sutton & Bult are dated beween 4th October 1782 and July 1784, a period of only 21 months. Click here for tongs by Samuel Godbehere.
