John Le Gallais worked from 1847 to 1873. He apparently only made tablespoons and teaspoons. He is also known for having over-struck many English assayed items. He had been in partnership with Thomas de Grouchy until 1873 but then went into business on his own. When looking at the bright cutting on these various pairs of tongs, there is so much similarity between them that it appears all to have been done by the same hand. click on a picture for more details |
