Sarah & John William Blake registered their first mark together on 15th June 1809 as spoon-makers and were working together up to 2nd October 1823 when John William Blake registered his first mark alone. They were mother and son. The father, John Blake, had also been a silversmith and it is assumed that he died in 1809 when Sarah & John William entered their mark together. Almost all of their tongs are plain, which is in keeping with the times. All of their tongs have a journeyman’s mark, although the mark is not always the same. Some of their marks have a pellet between and some do not.
