This pair of tongs is bright cut engraved and the engraving appears to be machined rather than hand made. The duty mark is not clipped so they will be dated between 29th May and 13th June 1815. Notice the journey-man's mark. It is a feature of these makers that very often a journeyman's mark is seen.
