This a lovely pair of beaded edge tongs. They have a curious "2 dots" beside the hallmark. This is particularly interesting as it is also seen on another pair of William Sumner tongs, see here. Is this a journeyman's mark? It would certainly seem likely as it is only seen with this maker. It is definitely strange as journeyman's marks are more normally found punched beside the maker's mark. They are dated between 1786 and 1790.
