This is a pair of plain "Old English" style tongs. They have an elaborate engraved bow. They are dated the latter half of 1804/05 (between 11th October 1804 and 28th May 1805). This can be discerned from the clipped duty mark. The duty mark was clipped to denote the increase of duty.
