This is a pair of standard style bright cut tongs with a nice diagonal pattern on the arms. They are dated 1791/92 which is the first year that date letters appeared on sugar tongs in London. Notice the maker's mark is very different to that of William Chatterton. The maker's mark is very indistinct but can still be detected as "WC".
