Thomas Heming entered his first mark as a large-worker on 12th June 1745. There are other recognised marks, but not all recorded. He was appointed as Principal Goldsmith to the king in 1760, a position which he held until 1782. This pair of tongs is a lovely pair of delicately engraved tongs with a bright cut engraved edge and “tulip” pattern to the tops of the arms. I have dated them at c1775.
