Sarah Purver is presumed to be Thomas Purver's widow. She registered only one mark, on 23rd September 1817, as a spoon-maker. Tongs by Sarah Purver are rare. This particular pair of tongs are also unusual because of the octagonal bowls. These bowls are seen on Exeter made tongs but also on some other London makers.
