These are a pair of open-work cast tongs with a shell bowl. As is so often the case with this style of tongs, they have been repaired. What makes these interesting is the crest. It has the motto "Virtute Et Labore". The Scottish Cochrane clan had this motto but their crest was with a horse. I have not been able to find any examples of the crest with a Rooster.
