This pair of sugar tongs are dated 1794/95 and are a good example of the fluted style tongs that is a feature of the Batemans. This particular style was made by all of the Batemans from Peter & Jonathan onwards. A Fascinating feature of these style tongs is that they are always marked underneath the bow. This pair has a fancy engraved set of initials "EC".
