This pair of tongs is concave and pressed, the engraving is pressed and chased with beading around most of the length of the arms. The maker’s mark is very small and punched on the tip of the bowl. These tongs are dated c1775. This is a lovely early example of the tongs made at the transition between traditional cast tongs and the standard bow shaped tongs.
