The attribution of these tongs to James Stamp is not certain as there were several makers of this period with the maker's mark of "IS". These tongs are a delightful example of bright cut engraving in the "Adam" style. They have a lovely feather edge as well.  I have tentatively dated them at c1775 - 1780.
