These are standard flared bright cut tongs with a lovely diagonal pattern down the length of the arms. They have acorn styled bowls, although the bowls are not shaped as is often the case with earlier ones. Notice that the duty mark and Lion Passant are punched almost on top of each other. The monogram is rather crudely engraved. This is quite common & probably demonstrates that it was engraved by someone else, after the tongs were bought. Click on any picture to enlarge |
