This pair of cast silver sugar tongs are by George Smith
II. They are dated c1775 and have an Adam style engraving to the top of
the arms. They have one repair to one of the arms which is very hard to
detect.
The absolutely fascinating fact about these
sugar tongs is their similarity to another pair featured on the web-site, by
Thomas Wallis I.
Try looking at both pages at the same time
- they are clearly the same design, from the same mold. Does this mean
that these two makers were connected in some way?
