This is a fascinating pair of tongs. They are shorter than most tongs, being just less than 5 inches long. There is no sign of them having been shortened, they appear to have been made this length. Despite thier length  they have large and heavily engraved bowls. They are marked with the makers mark and Lion only, dating them to 1784 or before.
