These are a fascinating, and rare pair of tongs. The embossed "addition" to the sides of the arms is very rarely seen. In fact the only other tongs I have seen with this curious feature were also Exeter made, by Richard Jenkins. The tongs are of a fairly crude appearance in construction and have a very crudely engraved monogram, which could well have been a later addition. They are dated between 8th August 1798 and 25th March 1800.
