These are of absolutely typical Scottish style, being concave fiddle pattern with a thread edge and circular bowls. What is particularly striking about these tongs is the engraved pattern in the bowls. This is something I have not seen on any others. Unfortunately one arm has a kink in it. This pair of tongs is marked with the clipped duty mark which suggests a date of around 1797/98, along with the thistle on one arm. The maker's mark is on the other arm.
