These are of absolutely typical Scottish style, being concave fiddle pattern with a thread edge and circular shell type bowls. This pair of tongs is marked with the three castles, duty mark and maker’s mark with the maker’s mark on one arm and the hallmarks on the other, being the castle rather than the thistle. They are dated c1790.
