This is a gorgeous pair of early Scottish sugar tongs, by Aitchison & Son. Aitchison & Son were a partnership consisting of Alexander Aitchison I and his son, Alexander Aitchison II. This business probably began as soon as the son became a freeman, 13 Sep.1770. It lasted till the father’s death on 6 Dec.1775.
