These tongs are bright cut and pierced. They are not cast although superficially they look as though they might be. They have lovely shaped shoulders. They do look as though they may have had a monogram erased at some point but I actually think the marks are just imperfections in the silver. Sadly the delicacy of the arms has meant there is some damage to one arm. They have clear hallmarks for 1778/79.
