William Ritchie worked from 1796 to 1814 and produced a variety of items during this period. These tongs are fairly standard Scottish style fiddle pattern with a long top part to the arms. The hallmark is a simple Eagle and maker's mark. We can never be certain of dates but I would estimate these to be later rather than earlier, c1810.
