This is an interesting pair of tongs because although they are very plain, they have two unusual features. Firstly they have the date letter "Q". It is quite unusual to see Newcastle sugar tongs with the date letter. They also have the maker's mark punched twice, once next to the hallmark and a second time on the other arm. They are dated 1806.
