John Mitchison was a Newcastle maker, dating from 1774.
As he died in 1792 and he appears to have been in partnership with William Stalker until 1784, we can reasonably assume his sugar tongs are dated between 1784 and 1792. This pair are a fine example of bright cut silver sugar tongs.
