John Langlands II He was John Langlands I son. The father died intestate in 1793 and his mother Margaret Langlands was granted the administration rights of the business. Two years after his father died, John Langlands II set up in business on his own when he came of age. He left his mother in partnership with John Robertson, a partnership that was dissolved after only two years. John Langlands II worked from 1795 to 1804 when he died, aged only 31.
