John Jobson & James Hetherington registered a mark on 11^th January 1771. They are known to have sent work for assay between 22^nd January 1771 and 13^th July 1773. The partnership was dissolved by 31^st July 1773 when it was reported as such. Their work can therefore be accurately dated to between those two dates. These tongs are a good example of early work, with just a simple feather edge and fan shaped bowls. The workmanship is not wonderful, just a simple strip of silver, made concave for strength and bent to shape.
