John Mackenzie is recorded between 1820 and 1850. He tended to use the Fouled Anchor and Stag's head as his marks. The Dumfries Museum booklet on Dumfries Silversmiths states: "John MacKenzie was an ironmonger who used the same marks as Joseph Pearson and David Gray."This pair of tongs is very ordinary, fiddle pattern but has a lovely set of Dumfires marks. They are dated c1825. Pictures are by kind permission of a Collector Click on a picture to enlarge |
