These tongs are a lovely pair of typically Irish tongs with the arms being slightly concave and a star engraved to the tops of the arms. The makers mark is in a lozenge with a small cut in at the bottom. This mark is clearly identified in Douglas Bennett's book as that of James Keating. The hallmarks date these tongs at between 1793 and 1809.
