Jackson records Thomas Tudor’s mark on a caddy spoon dated 1797. There were also at least two other makers with the initials “TT”, Thomas Taylor who was made a freeman in 1789, and Thomas Townsend whose mark is also illustrated by Jackson, stamped on a Pewter plate from the Dublin Assay office. The mark on these tongs definitely looks like "IT" rather than "TT" Also given that they are dated 1793 or before, it is very unlikely that they are by Thomas Tudor. These tongs are typically Irish in style and are dated between 1787 and 1793 Click on any picture to enlarge |
