This is a glorious pair of early Irisg tongs. They are typically Irish with the star engraved to the tops of the arms. They have a lovely flower engraved on the bowls, which is very unusual. I have tentatively dated them at around 1780. From the shape of the harp and hibernia, I think they could be dated any time between 1775 and 1786. From their style I would suggest earlier rather than later, hence plumping for c1780.
