Jackson shows John Nicolson’s work as dating between 1770 and 1799. In the list of Cork Goldsmiths, he also shows John Nicolson with an earliest mention of 1756 and latest 1805. These tongs are typically Irish in style, being long, (nearly 6.¾ inches long) and concave down the whole length of the arms. They are dated c1780.
