This particular mark was used between 1801 and 1804. The names were John Hampston, John Prince, Robert Cattle & George Cattle. The four traded together from early 1796 to 1804 when John Hampston retired. During this time they registered several marks, this particular one being the latest, dated sometime between 1801 and 1804. These tongs are very ordinary fiddle pattern as are most tongs seen from York at this period. Although the marks are rubbed, they are still clearly identifiable.
