Edward Jackson is recorded as having been made free in 1807. He died in 1859. From the surviving Assay office records he is known to have made sugar tongs. His work is recorded between 1817 and 1828. This pair of tongs is completely plain with almost circular bowls. The first pairs of tongs he sent for Assay were on February 4th 1818, so these tongs will be dated some time between 1818 and 1828.
