This is a pair of quite unusual tongs. The scallop shaped bowl is only normally found on cast tongs, but these tongs are most definitely not cast. Bateman work generally tends to be fairly easily identifiable but tongs of this style are quite rare. These tongs are quite reminiscent of Scottish style tongs. even the bow is slightly concave which is a very Scottish feature.
