This is an interesting mark as it looks exactly like Thomas Hobbs’ mark, except that it cannot be as the tongs are clearly dated 1792 and Thomas Hobbs first entered his mark in1796. The closest resemblance after Thomas Hobbs is Thomas Harper I although as there were several makers registered as "TH" we cannot be certain of this. Thomas Harper I registered his first mark in 1790 as a small-worker. He was interesting as he was a very active Mason rising to deputy Grand Master from 1801. This pair of tongs are plain and typical Georgian Old English style.
