The "IL" makers mark is particularly difficult to attribute. I have attributed these to Jospeh Lewis. His first mark was registered in October 1767, as a small-worker. He appears in the parliamentary list of 1773 as a buckle-maker. He entered three marks as a buckle-maker between 1775 and 1783. He then entered another mark as a plate-worker in 1792 and another in 1795. As a small-woker and buckle-maker he would very likely have also made sugar tongs.

The most likely alternative maker of around this period is John Lambe who registered several marks but most of them were in an oval cartouche, rather than rectangular.
