John Ford & John Williams entered their mark as small-workers in 1767. They went on to register a second mark in 1782. In both cases their address is given as Bath. They appeared as Buckle-makers in the parliamentary report of 1773. Tongs by this partnership are very rare. These tongs are plain in style but fairly narrow, making them quite stylish and subtly different from London tongs of the period. They are hallmarked London, dated between 1786 and 1790.
