These tongs are fiddle & thread pattern but with a slightly unusual shape. This shape is more normally seen with Irish tongs but Irish fiddle pattern are generally a little more angular with there being less smooth curves. These tongs are also blessed with a delightful (if a little faded) monogram of some sort of winged beast perched on a crown. These tongs are dated 1802/03, i.e. some time before the end of May 1803. Note that John Death did not register a mark until July 1803.
