This is a pair of cast tongs. Unfortunately they have a strengthener to one arm and a solder repair to the other. This is not unusal for cast tongs as they rarely come through 250 years of history without some damage.

If you look closely at the maker's mark it appears to have been overstruck. This is not an unusual occurence and would indicate that he did not make them himself.

I have estimated the date of these tongs at around 1770 to 1775.
