Banff is identified in Jackson's, closely linked to Aberdeen. There is one pair of tongs that I have ascribed to George Elder and another to David Elder. Both were known as Banff makers and although Jackson's links them to Edinburgh they will have sent their work to Edinburgh for Assay as was the law at the time.

This attribution is by no means certain and to be sure the item is genuinely Banff silver, the Banff marks need to be seen, and they are not on these tongs. Genuine Banff silver marks are very rare.
