This pair of tongs is completely plain, which is very much the style of this period and the most common style for these makers. They are dated 1811. Notice the journey-man's mark. It is a feature of these makers that very often a journeyman's mark is seen. This is a different mark to the 1815 pair. These tongs have a lovely ornate monogram "MW"?
