These tongs are dated between 1814 and 1823 and are standard fiddle pattern tongs. These tongs have one of the best engraved crests that I have ever seen. It is a picture of a ship, surmounted with the Latin phrase “Tutus in Undis”, with a gothic (later) monogram underneath that looks like “DW”.
