Darling & Bell went into partnership on 6th April 1816. They assayed work together between September 1817 and April 1822. The partnership ended when David Darling died. James Bell had been his assistant. Sugar tongs with this maker’s mark are rare as they seemed to focus on jewellery and watches. This pair of tongs are very simple fiddle pattern tongs, dated 1820.
