This pair of cast tongs by Edward Sawyer are lovely. There is no sign of any repair and all the Hall-marks are very clear. The acorn bowls are very well made with a nice cross-hatch pattern to the top half and a clearly defined nipple on the end. The engraved monogram is off-centre and although it is of approximately this period, it may well have been engraved after the tongs were bought, perhaps by someone else.
