John Leslie is an Aberdeen maker registered between 1774 and 1821. It is by no means certain that these tongs are by John Leslie, as they have only the Edinburgh mark, although this would be consistent with Aberdeen makers of the period because they would have sent their work to Edinburgh for hallmarking. The tongs are bright cut and have a lovely deep concave and widened bow. They are dated at c1800.
